Based in Gwaun Cae Gurwen South Wales UK

Highly qualified and experianced

I have been in the electronics repair industry since 1971, even before that I was repairing radios, and small electrical appliances in my father's radio and TV shop in London. Having gained my City and Guilds in radio and television servicing and later in digital electronics repair I now have over 50 years of experience. Starting of in TV repair for various rental companies and then into audio systems until I married and moved to Dorset. Searching for jobs I found myself working for an amusement machine supplier, this was exciting as I was servicing anything from fruit machines both digital and electromechanical, video games to kiddie rides and juke boxes. Over the years I moved onto PC and ATM monitor repairs, Broadcast confidence monitors, and eventually working in the aviation industry on full motion flight simulators. Having to move to Wales I then worked on industrial electronics including VFD's. I was then headhunted to work back into the flight simulation work until covid struck and the training centre closed. I am now semi retired working for myself.

Change of name

Amman Valley Electronics Repair was formerly Simvolt Solutions

Simvolt Solutions started trading in 2012 in Bournemouth, Dorset. It was primarily set up to repair items within the flight simulation industry, mainly for power supply repair, hence the name. When I moved to South Wales in October 2016, the company continued on a part-time basis. I was working at a pilot training centre, owned by a famous heavy metal singer. I was maintaining a Boeing 747-400 and Sikorsky S61N helicopter full motion simulators at Cardiff airport from 2017 until it closed for training in 2019 due to the COVID-19 epidemic.  The Helicopter continued a training program after COVID until July 2023, when it was finally switched off and dismantled. I continued to work for myself, trying to get into the domestic repair sector, but it just wasn't fruitful, the company name was just not right, people thought I was a consulting firm, so in August 2025 I changed the name to Amman Valley Electronics Repair, it tells where I am and what I do, so far it is workng well.

Repair Cafe Wales

Volunteer

As I have over 50 years experiance in various fields of repair I decided to answer an advert for "fixers wanted" at our local repair cafe Wales based in Cwmgors and Pontardawe. So I contacted the organiser and they were happy to take me on. I have now been there for over 2 years repairing various electrical and electronic items.
